Dr John Woods

Cardiologist

Dr John Woods is a well known consultant cardiologist on the Central Coast. Dr Woods consults at Gosford and Tuggerah rooms. He has admitting rights at Gosford Hospital, Wyong Hospital and Gosford Private Hospital. Dr Woods originally trained in Sydney, and after completing his advanced cardiology training, did further cardiology research with Cambridge University and Papworth Hospital, England.

Dr Dennis Wang

MB BS BSc (Med) MPH (Syd) FRACP

Consultant Cardiologist & Interventional Cardiologist

Dr Wang is a consultant cardiologist and co-principal of Specialist Cardiology. He sub-specialises in interventional cardiology, structural heart disease and diagnostic cardiac imaging.

Dr Wang completed his medical degree at the University of NSW and undertook his physician training at Royal North Shore Hospital, cardiology training at Gosford Hospital before returning to Royal North Shore hospital to complete his interventional fellowship. He is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

Dr Wang has also completed a Masters of Public Health at Sydney University.

Dr Wang performs complex coronary intervention including coronary angiography, angioplasty, stenting and rotational atherectomy. He was the first cardiologist in his centre to adopt radial access for all his complex coronary procedures.

Dr Wang has extensive experience in structural heart procedures, including patent foramen ovale closure, left atrial appendage closure with the Watchman and Amulet devices and transcatheter aortic valve implantation. He is a proctor for both the Watchman and Amulet left atrial appendage closure devices. He has presented internationally and performed live case demonstrations for the Watchman device in China, Taiwan and Australia.

Dr Wang performs also performs, echo, exercise stress echo, dobutamine stress echo, loop recorder insertion, transoesophageal echo, Holter monitors, 24 hour blood pressure monitors and pacemaker interrogations.

Dr Wang is a clinical tutor for medical undergraduates for the University of Sydney. He has been a part of the Open Heart International volunteer program to help train cardiologist in Myanmar (Burma). He regularly attends international cardiac meetings and has been on many Medical Advisory Boards for various cardiac technologies.

Dr Wang has admitting rights and works at multiple hospitals including the Sydney Adventist Hospital, Gosford Private Hospital and North Shore Private Hospital.

Dr Karthikeyan Rangasamy

MB BS FRACP

Cardiologist & Electrophysiologist

Graduated from Dr MGR Medical University, Chennai, Tamilnadu, South India, Dr Rangasamy did his post-graduation initially in United Kingdom and then in Australia. He did his basic physician training in Medicine in Concord-Nepean network, NSW. After completing his BPT, he did his two year unaccredited Cardiology advanced training in Coffs Harbour and Blacktown network, NSW. 

Further he completed his three year accredited Cardiology advanced training in Gosford-St Vincent network, NSW. Finally he completed his two year Electrophysiology fellowship in Monash network, Victoria. 

Dr Rangasamy joined our Coastal Cardiology team in 2018 and has been working with us since then. He has admitting rights in North Gosford Private Hospital where he performs his procedures [Single/dual Pacemaker, defibrillators, CRT- Cardiac Resynchronization therapy, His bundle pacemaker, implantable loop monitors, various ablations including typical atrial flutter, SVT [ AVNRT, AVRT], RVOT, AVN and Cryo-PVI AF ablation. 

He also reports for PRP Gosford. 

He is bi-lingual [English/Tamil] and interested in music, nature and spirituality. 

His life philosophies – Universal Love is nothing but Nature or God, Creativity with Freedom is life, Prevention is better than cure.

Dr Tommy Wong

MB BS BSc (Med) FRACP

Cardiologist

Dr Tommy Wong did his medical training at Royal North Shore Hospital and Gosford Hospital, and post graduate training at Prince of Wales Hospital in Hong Kong. Dr Wong specialises in CT of the coronary arteries and stress testing. Dr Wong consults both at our Gosford and Tuggerah rooms. He has admitting rights at Gosford Private Hospital and the Sydney Adventist Hospital.

Dr Ru-Dee Ting

MBBS, FRACP, PhD, MClinT (R), FCSANZ

Interventional Cardiology & Cardiologist

Dr Ting specialises in coronary angioplasty, rotational atherectomy, diagnostic intracoronary imaging, right heart catheterisation and haemodynamic testing. He is proficient in both radial and femoral access coronary angiography. Dr Ting also has expertise in structural intervention including transcatheter aortic valve implantation, atrial septal defect and patent foramen ovale closure and transcatheter mitral valve repair. These techniques enable patients to have coronary artery occlusion, certain cardiac valve abnormalities and congenital defects addressed with minimally invasive approaches, avoiding the need for open heart surgery. Dr Ting also performs transthoracic echocardiography, exercise stress echo testing, holter and event monitoring and 24 hour blood pressure monitoring. 

Dr Ting obtained his degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Melbourne. He trained in cardiology at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and completed an interventional fellowship and St Michael’s Hospital, University of Toronto, Canada. He is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians and a fellow of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. 

He has been published in various in medical journals and has presented his work at numerous conferences both locally and internationally. 

He is a clinical lecturer at the University of Sydney clinical school and a senior clinical lecturer at the Macquarie University clinical school, being involved with undergraduate education. He also delivers lectures extensively to primary care physicians in the areas of preventative cardiology, coronary heart disease and arrhythmia.

Dr Ting has admitting rights at Gosford Private Hospital, Sydney Adventist Hospital, Norwest Private Hospital and Macquarie University Privacy Hospital. He is bilingual in English and Mandarin. 

Dr Ru-Dee Ting is joining us on a weekly basis and has availability for both urgent and non-urgent cardiological appointments. 

 
 

Dr Roberto Spina

MB BS BSc (Med) FRACP

Consultant Cardiologist & Interventional Cardiologist

Dr Roberto Spina trained in Australia and the USA and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He has been a Staff Specialist in cardiology at Gosford Hospital from 2019.  Dr Spina is the Director of the Cardiac Catheterisation laboratories in Gosford Hospital and has significantly contributed to the establishment and the operation of the 24/7 primary percutaneous coronary intervention service at Gosford Hospital.

 

Roberto will see patients with a variety of heart conditions in both our Gosford and Tuggerah practices. He has admitting and procedural rights at Gosford Private Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital (TAVI), Gosford District Hospital and Wyong District Hospital.

Dr Paul Bamford

MBCh, MA (Oxon), MSc (Oxon), MRCP, FRACP

Interventional Cardiologist

Dr Bamford is a general and structural interventional cardiologist, currently practicing at John Hunter Hospital, Lake Macquarie Private Hospital and Lingard Private Hospital. He graduated from Oxford University with two Masters degrees before completing his medical training at the University of Warwick. Dr Bamford completed his cardiology advanced training in the Central Coast. After attaining Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP, London) and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), he pursued a subspecialty interventional cardiology fellowship at John Hunter Hospital.  He was awarded the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSANZ) scholarship to pursue a transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) fellowship in the UK.

Dr Bamford is the first named author of over a dozen papers in peer-reviewed medical journals in areas including complex percutaneous coronary intervention, heart failure and transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and he has presented at national and international conferences. He is passionate about medical education and is a conjoint lecturer at the University of Newcastle, a member of the Academy of Clinical Educators and an editorial fellow for JSCAI. In addition to performing coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention, Dr Bamford has level A accreditation reporting computed tomography coronary angiography (CTCA).
